Evolving the site - Take 2

The greeks say “take a big bite but don’t say big words” (more or less, the whole thing loses immensely when translated), which means never boast because it will come back and haunt you.

So much for adding Amrita to the site. I got sidetracked into releasing rrt-ruby and then I ‘prioritized’.

Prioritizing is when your client suddenly comes up with a briliant idea that needs to be implemented immediately and against all practical reasoning. So instead of refactoring the HTML generation code I instead refactored the site’s object hierarchy and the XML structure for the articles (which meant updating all existing articles). OK, now the interfaces are consistent, but we are not talking about anything that is getting published, so it’s more a case of rampant perfectionism than anything else.

The only practical thing I added was a publish/no_publish flag in the article sources that allows me to work on an article and exclude it from the generation/publication while it’s unfinished.

And ofcourse, don’t let me forget the new RSS channel, where you can subscribe and enjoy up-to-date notification of all the new and cough exciting stuff in this site.
